Live For Speed S2 is a serious racing simulator. No arcade modes, no steering aids - YOU have to do the driving. In S2 you can race alone or against the AI, but the real fun is to be found online, in multiplayer mode. Racing against real people is simply the best thing and LFS makes it easy for you. Oct 11, 2010 Download Live for Speed S2-Z28. Very realistic online racing simulator. When we first viewed the screenshots of Live for Speed we were impressed because they were really good and we immediately downloaded the game to test it. The game offers us a lot of settings to configure our car, change the name.

- I tried it at the beginning of july. Navigating through the menu was hellish but it is pretty good overall. Nothing like a native support but worth a try and the better VR racing experience I had so far.
- Nice, thanks for sharing. iRacing is nice but quite expensive indeed. LFS is a good sim as well!
- Our Website: http://www.virtualreality.com.au
Our Youtube Channel : http://www.youtube.com/user/virtualrealityau - As much as it pains me to say, the Rift integration using the vireio perception driver is not very good.
There is a good 3D depth, but it doesn't feel quiet right. I found the proportions of the items in the car off.
The head movement is off and it feels like the rotating axis is not in the centre of your body.
Also, the 'view' stops when looking down which feels very weird.
Last, but not least, the Menu in LFS is very hard to navigate once vireio is running.DK1 | DK2 | GearVR | CV1 Pre-Ordered
'I reject your reality and substitute my own' - I'm having trouble with headtracking in game.
It's recognized in opentrack. I have stereo view in game, but no tracking. Any hints? - Yeah signed up for iRacing and cancelling it before even getting into a game.
Seemed I had to then purchase a track. I could be wrong but seems really expensive.
Wait a few months and a decent AAA game hopefully will pop up with Oculus Rift and no need for that.Intel i920@4ghz, 12gb ram, Windows 7

'I reject your reality and substitute my own'- edited October 2013Not yet. I'm using opentrack without hydra and followed all steps in your 1st post. It's my very 1st try with opentrack at all.
- I had a struggle getting this working. What I did was:
1. Extract the following files from the D3D8 proxy driver to the root of LFS (I grabbed the latest version of the proxy driver from the download page):
2. Copy the highlighted files from perception/bin to the root of LFS:
3. Run the perception program with oculus rift / no tracker selected. Just leave it running.
4. Run the opentrack program, click 'start' near the bottom in the go section (it took me a while to figure this out), and check 'Invert pitch'
5. Run live for speed. It is near impossible to navigate the menus, but it works great once you're racing.0 - edited October 2013Thanks so much hotspoons!
The LFS-Thread did not mention to copy the perception 'hijackdll.dll' file into the gamefolder.
Also, the opentrack-version in that dropboxfolder did not work for me.
But the latest version (http://ananke.laggy.pk/opentrack/) works fine.
I have had to adjust the curves in opentrack, aswell. The head movement is off and it feels like the rotating axis is not in the centre of your body.
Also, the 'view' stops when looking down which feels very weird.
Last, but not least, the Menu in LFS is very hard to navigate once vireio is running.
Sounds like you've got to edit the tracking-curves in opentrack, too.
You can change each axis by hitting the 'curves'-button in 'game protocol'.
I just did a quick testrun and had a large grin under my rift. No graphical glitches, everything looks fine (apart from the GUI).
...
After some more testing: There are some camera-issues, but it's overall not bad. I recommend waiting for the native support. - Yeah signed up for iRacing and cancelling it before even getting into a game.
Seemed I had to then purchase a track. I could be wrong but seems really expensive.
There are quite a few cars and tracks automatically available to use when you sign up to iRacing with no additional purchase required. - Scawen, one of the developers of lfs stated that he is taking a few weeks off to implement 3d support for lfs a few days ago. So hopefully this means rift support too and easy set up etc. 8-)
I just signed up for iracing my self and am REALLY enjoying it.Yeah signed up for iRacing and cancelling it before even getting into a game.

Paid 15 for a 3 months subscription.
Never been into racing games but this is really fun with the logitech g27 i picked up.
Cant wait to get my rift for this.
You do get like 7 or so cars and several tracks when you sign up.
Only the street stock oval series and some mazda road course series is available as a rookie though.- Big Update:
There is a '3D Patch' out by the creators of Life for speed, that lets you render a 3D stereo scopic image using the game engine
https://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=84420&highlight=oculusStereoscopic 3D support :
In the View Options screen you can select 3D mode on the second line.
Various options will then be available to you :
SBS / TAB - left and right eye images are displayed side by side or top and bottom
half / full - the image is compressed to half width or not compressed
HUD adjustment : Brings the 2D elements closer - this is good for a headset because you can bring the interface as near to you as the steering wheel.
3D adjustment : Makes 3D elements further away - this is good for a TV because the sky and distant objects will appear to be behind your screen.
Notes :
TEST PATCH : THERE ARE NO EXTERNAL VIEWS OR 3D OBJECTS IN THE MENUS WHEN IN 3D MODE
SBS half is a commonly used format and should be available on many 3D TV sets. Horizontal resolution is reduced. Most active shutter displays need to use this option or TAB half. I am interested to know which looks better.
TAB half should be the best option for passive displays which use alternate lines for left and right eye. Vertical resolution is reduced compared with 2D mode but there is no additional loss of resolution on a passive display (which must reduce vertical resolution of a full height image in 3D mode).
SBS full is the closest thing to what is required for an Oculus Rift, but the necessary distortion has not been applied. There is no Oculus Rift tracking support either. You may be able to use intermediate software to use this mode on an Oculus Rift, in which case you should probably use interface scaling to reduce the height of the HUD (Options... Display... Interface).
After installing the Game, replace the EXE with this Test one:

'I reject your reality and substitute my own' - Very good news for all sim racing fans!
The developers of live for speed have implemented native Rift support!
Ok, still experimental and not official, but the result is already pretty good. At least headtracking and barrel distortion work properly ingame.
Demo can be downloaded from http://www.lfs.net/
Oculus Rift Patch and instructions from this thread https://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=1828550
Strongly recommended tips:
1. Modify the 'Vertical field of view' in the view options from 90° to 112° which reflects more the Rifts native FOV!
2. Show the player model and move the head position (sliders) until it feels naturally with the rest of the rendered body
I'm feeling some dizzyness while looking around. I guess it's caused by wrong eyepositioning ?1. Modify the 'Vertical field of view' in the view options from 90° to 112° which reflects more the Rifts native FOV!
2. Show the player model and move the head position (sliders) until it feels naturally with the rest of the rendered body [/color]
Anyway, good to see another good game with native VR support- Maybe it´s because of the lack of a neck model? As I understood this isn´t implemented (yet). Anyway I feel fine.
- Hi, I want to share my latest settings and tips which makes me feel like almost driving a real racing car.
1. Use a steering wheel!!!
2. in Oculus Config Utility: Set up a profile with correct IPD value in the Oculus Config Utility and mark it as default.
3. in LFS: Setting the vertical field of view to somewhat between 110°-116° (I´ve choosen 112°)
4. in LFS: Use the Rifts native screen resolution of 1280x800 (with other resolutions i have some eye strain, because my rift doesn´t display them properly)
5. in LFS: Show the virtual driver and virtual steering wheel
6. in LFS: Move driver in x,y,z direction until your head-position matches with your virtual body
7. in LFS: Set the option for moving view with animation to NO (hey, we have real headtracking now!)
8. in LFS: View accelaration option of headmovement: DEFINITELY(!) set the value of the angular headmovement to ZERO (0°/g)!Else the shaking of the view in VR makes you crazy!
9. in LFS: View accelaration options of horizontal, vertical and forward directions: Can be chosen to personal preference. (I´ve choosen a value of 0.01 m/g))
10. Play!
Ultimate realism tipps:
- drive with a good steering wheel that has force feedback and a race seat!!!! For example i use a Logitech G25 attached on a rinoseat (looks ugly, but feels great) --> WOW  - Oh wow this seems to work pretty well in the Rift. And it's one of the first games that don't make me feel sick after a few minutes, hooray! And you can actually play without a steering wheel unlike in iRacing
- Holy Crap, this integration feels a lot better then iracing. I keep my resolution to 1920x1080. Way less screen door0
- Live for Speed.
Unreal! thats how good it is. I think it helps if you've modded to get rid of the SDE, I wasn't enjoying my rift half as much as I am now. LFS is even better than IRacing. I think the DX8 graphics don't hurt it either. It is infinitly playable and super immersive. - I just bought LFS and what can i say, its the same VR level as Half Life 2, the best racing expirience
so far with the Rift, incredible, just incredible! Hehehe i still lauging
Next weekend i will show the Rift to 4 friends who dont know about the Rift at all, and beside HL2
Life for speed is for sure the thing i will demo!!
best regards

- Yes, give it a go!
EDIT : I've started a new thread which starts with info about the Test Patch.
viewtopic.php?f=42&t=53350 - The game is actually very solid, it lacks some online features (traffic jams due to collisions is the #1 problem, #2 is strong jittering even on little lags - skill filtering and networking code), but other than that I absolutely love it.
I just purchased an iRacing license and while it has better first impression on it, after a while of playing with it and comparing it to LFS I noticed some quite better things (better force feedback for one), but overall I was really disappointed. Poor tyre physics, online driving aids, NO CLUTCH REQUIRED WHATSOEVER?! I was really really disappointed when I figured that I can completely remove my foot off the clutch on the NASCAR stock H-shifter car and it'll handle it automatically. Now I genuinely feel regrets about purchasing their membership, could've bought S2 LFS license instead - I have to admit that I fell for overhype and cunning advertising.
If LFS could solve the two highlighted problems, it'll easily beat iRacing in every aspect. Well, except maybe 3d scenery and objects precision - they have it laser-scanned, but it's still arguable. - I'd be banned from the forum if I gave my reaction to trying this.
So, in the interests of being family friendly.
Holy flup, firkin hecky thump wowsers. This game in the rift is frakking amazeballs. - Yep i tried LFS too.... Thanks :x
Now i'll have to buy a G27 and my wife will probably gonna ask to divorce !!
To get back on topic, well done, great job on the menu and your game is really good ! - Yep i tried LFS too.... Thanks :x
Now i'll have to buy a G27 and my wife will probably gonna ask to divorce !!
Dont´t forget to buy a raceseat too! - I'm really pleased that LFS seems to be so suited to the Rift! I'm still working on improvements, so it should get a bit better.
Please could I make a request? If you could post on the other thread ( viewtopic.php?f=42&t=5335 ) instead of this one, that would be great. Because the first post of that thread explains to people how to get set up using the actual Rift support we have developed. This one on the other hand is all about how to 'hack' the old version of LFS into the Rift.
Thanks!0
Live for Speed is a serious racing simulator. No arcade modes, no steering aids - YOU have to do the driving. It is therefore highly recommended to drive the sim with a steering wheel, because even though you can use keyboard and/or mouse, a wheel is what you use in a real car, so a wheel should be used in a serious racing simulator. Especially when going online, where fast reactions are required.
The DEMO allows you access to 3 cars and one racing environment that has both a road and a rallycross course. The cars available are a front wheel drive hatchback, one rear wheel driven road car and the Formula BMW, a single seater. These three cars make for a good all round impression.
The FULL version adds five more racing environments, a big test area and 17 additional cars. The test area contains many configurations: a skid pad, a drag strip and an autocross area, plus an editor to create your own autocross tracks.
